PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cole Gentry (ranked 24766 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pepa Mengel (ranked 6334 p4p, 0 weight class). Mengel has chosen Sieg Heil Viktoria as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Cole Gentry had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mengel throws a push kick but Gentry slaps the foot to one side.
Mengel tries to bum rush Gentry with a series of wild strikes but Gentry uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gentry shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mengel as he jumps to the side.

Mengel fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gentry, pushing him back against the cage.
Gentry is trying to pull guard but Mengel has him pressed against the cage.
Gentry blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Gentry has Mengel pressed against the cage, preventing Mengel from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Mengel is trying to break the clinch but Gentry is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gentry tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mengel just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cole Gentry. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gentry jumps guard but Mengel turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Gentry jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mengel walks away with a smile on his face. Gentry gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Gentry walks into a stiff left hand from Mengel.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A lazy left from Mengel finds it's target.
Mengel lands with a big left! Gentry is wobbled badly! Mengel comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Gentry to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Pepa Mengel!
After winning the bout, Pepa Mengel thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
