PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Joshua (ranked 4130 p4p, 446 weight class) and Luis Fonsi (ranked 6256 p4p, 624 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fonsi fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Joshua.

Joshua tries to counter by clinching up but Fonsi breaks away and moves out of range.
Joshua's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Fonsi connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Joshua scrambles back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Fonsi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Joshua.
Fonsi walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Joshua has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Fonsi uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Fonsi motions for Joshua to come forward. Fonsi throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Fonsi with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Joshua to score with a decent uppercut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Joshua throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fonsi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Joshua cracks Fonsi with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Joshua has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Fonsi to stand back up!

Fonsi is rocked!
Joshua is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Fonsi flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Fonsi is out cold! Joshua holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
