Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Christian Benavidez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Begeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benavidez misses with a body shot.

Begeman clinches up with Benavidez and pushes him back against the cage.

Begeman fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Benavidez wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Begeman.

Begeman goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Benavidez is on top in guard.
Benavidez stands and throws Begeman's legs to the side, diving into side control.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Begeman has eaten all the pies!

Benavidez works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Begeman wants to get back to his feet.
Benavidez is putting a hurting on Begeman here, landing some big shots from side control.
Begeman is trying to control Benavidez's posture but Benavidez avoids it.
Benavidez has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Begeman!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Begeman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Benavidez has hold of Begeman's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Begeman manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Begeman is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Benavidez lands a heavy elbow.
Benavidez fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Benavidez gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Begeman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Benavidez gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Christian Benavidez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Begeman.
Begeman tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Begeman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Begeman has his foot on Benavidez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Benavidez works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Benavidez lands with some strikes.

Begeman sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Benavidez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Benavidez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

and Begeman counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Begeman wants to work for an arm triangle but Benavidez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Begeman is looking for a kimura but Benavidez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Begeman to get the leverage.

Begeman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

James Begeman has got the better of the ground game so far.
Begeman throws a strike but Benavidez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Benavidez slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Begeman.

That was a close second round but I would say that Christian Benavidez will probably get the nod.

Begeman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
