Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Damen Mayer (ranked 3808 p4p, 387 weight class) and Energy Rating (ranked 4850 p4p, 451 weight class). Damen Mayer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mayer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rating looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mayer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Mayer is trying to get an arm triangle but Rating is defending well.
Rating is trying to control Mayer's posture but Mayer avoids it.

Mayer goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Rating has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mayer but great work by Rating.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mayer tries to bench press Rating off him but Rating keeps the position.
Rating trying to control the position but Mayer is working away.

Mayer is looking for a sweep.
Mayer parries the strikes from Rating easily there. Rating is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mayer to escape.
Rating working the body and head with strikes.
Mayer is trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mayer is trying to work for a sweep but Rating has mounted him!
Rating wants to control the pace but Mayer is squirming around nicely.
Mayer is looking to get to half guard.
Mayer sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Mayer slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Rating throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Rating trying to control but Mayer is working from the bottom.
Mayer tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Mayer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rating defends it easily.
Rating in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Mayer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rating can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rating trying to control the position from guard on top but Mayer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rating controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Mayer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rating paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rating tries to counter by closing the distance.

Rating pushes Mayer up against the cage in a clinch.
Mayer tries to pull guard but Rating won't allow it.
Rating stops a takedown attempt from Mayer.

Rating pulls guard successfully.
Mayer slips nicely into half guard.

Mayer seems to be working for a kimura but Rating defends the submission attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mayer tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rating knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Energy Rating dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Mayer misses with an uppercut. Rating saw that one coming.

Rating fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mayer to the ground. Rating is now in Mayer's guard.
Rating wants to stand but Mayer is controlling his posture from full guard.
Rating has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mayer keeping moving, preventing Rating from controlling successfully.
Mayer looking for a sweep. Not yet Mayer, not yet.

Mayer pushes a forearm under Rating's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Rating is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
