The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aslan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hicks defends it nicely.
Hicks went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Aslan gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Aslan avoids the elbow strike from Hicks, against the cage.

Hicks wants to take the fight to the mat but Aslan manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aslan manages to break the clinch.
Aslan shoots for a double leg takedown but Hicks sprawls well. He's pushed Aslan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hicks lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Aslan blocks a head kick by Hicks.
Despite the aggression on Aslan's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Aslan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hicks manages to avoid it.

Aslan clinches up against the cage.
Aslan lands a knee to the body.
Aslan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hicks pulls his leg out and moves away.
Major Hicks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Atakan Aslan.

Aslan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hicks is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Aslan is just riding it out for now. Hicks eventually gives up the hold.
