The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. velasco tries to avoid it but Rutten manages to keep hold of a leg and drag velasco to the ground. velasco escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rutten sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Rutten is fighting off a takedown attempt but velasco is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rutten to the mat. Rutten regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Well velasco has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
