Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Kirby takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.


It looks like Ron Kirby has been cut.

Mandela tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kirby defends well and Mandela ends up having to push Kirby into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kirby controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Mandela is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kirby could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kirby is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kirby avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Kirby is pulling down on Mandela's head to control his posture.
Kirby's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Mandela is fighting to break Kirby's control of his arms but Kirby is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kirby throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Mandela escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Mandela drives through and clinches with Kirby against the cage.
Mandela tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kirby smiles and moves away.

Mandela moves into range and clinches up with Kirby.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mandela goes for a double leg but Kirby avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kirby continues to drive forward.
Mandela has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kirby is looking to stand up but Mandela isn't so interested in that idea.

Kirby might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
