Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Filiberto Clements (ranked 25514 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Giannos (ranked 5875 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Clements gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Giannos to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Giannos trying to control the position from guard on top but Clements is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Giannos working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Giannos postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Clements holds on and takes a little breather.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Giannos throwing strikes from guard but Clements blocks nicely.
Clements has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Giannos is looking to stand up but Clements won't let him.

Giannos looking to sit in guard and control but Clements gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Clements wants to control from the top but Giannos keeps moving.
Clements postures up in Giannos's guard and throws a big left but Giannos blocks it.
Giannos utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Giannos is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Clements accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Clements postures up in Giannos's guard and throws a big left but Giannos blocks it.
Clements is looking to work some ground and pound but Giannos has wrist control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Giannos gets the takedown into side control.
Clements wants to control but Giannos postures up.
Clements gets back to half guard.
Clements has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Clements has his hands clasped together around Giannos's back. He's all about the action.
Clements regains full guard. Nicely done.

Giannos is fighting to break Clements's control of his arms but Clements is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Clements is trying to control the position but Giannos postures up.
Clements is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Clements is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Clements has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Giannos can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Giannos closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Clements doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Clements is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Giannos dominated that round.

Clements wants a takedown.
Clements tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Giannos smiles and moves away.
Giannos on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Giannos moves into the clinch.

Filiberto Clements overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Clements thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Clements cracks Giannos with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Giannos from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Clements has got one arm under Giannos's chin. This could be trouble... Giannos trying to control the other hand but Clements gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Giannos has tapped out! The fight is over!
