The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maloney tries to close the distance and clinch but Ramos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Maloney swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ramos throws a fast counter high kick but Maloney manages to duck under it in time.

and Ramos counters with a shoot takedown. Maloney fights it but they end up in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Maloney has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ramos can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ramos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Maloney manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ramos has Maloney in his guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Maloney accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ramos escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maloney gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
