The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Faria misses.
Powell looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Powell swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Powell lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Faria has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Faria and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
A quick step to the side and Faria tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Faria has managed to clinch.
Faria throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Faria is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Powell is defending well for now.
Faria throws a head punch that misses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Powell trying to keep a closed guard but Faria is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Faria would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Faria stands and steps away. Powell gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

It looks like Love-Hate Powell has been cut.
Faria tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Powell manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Powell's coach down at Tayne's 4d3d3d3 Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Powell's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Powell stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Abbe Faria is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Faria gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Powell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Faria rushes Powell and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Faria lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Powell backwards.

Powell has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Powell jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Faria walks away with a smile on his face. Powell gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Faria throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Powell lands a glancing blow to the side of Faria's head.
Faria closes the distance and clinches.
Powell tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Abbe Faria has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Love-Hate Powell.
