Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jarod Kirkland (ranked 6489 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blazing Bob (ranked 25482 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob has chosen Born to be wild as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jarod Kirkland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Blazing Bob!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirkland walks into a left hand.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bob looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Bob gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Bob pulls guard successfully.
Kirkland seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kirkland throws an elbow that misses. Bob uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kirkland's guard. Nice move by Bob!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bob passes Kirkland's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Kirkland has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bob is working away from the top position though.

Bob stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kirkland to get to his feet.
Bob leaves Kirkland with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bob enables Kirkland to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bob manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Bob seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Bob wants to sweep here but Kirkland controlling him for the moment.

Kirkland missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bob utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bob lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Bob throws a big right hand that misses.
Kirkland trying to keep a closed guard but Bob is proving a slippery customer.
Bob is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Kirkland keeping moving, preventing Bob from controlling successfully.
Kirkland is trying to control the position from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kirkland is on top in guard.

Kirkland is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Kirkland postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Helsinki inform us that Bob has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kirkland postures up.
Kirkland won't allow Bob to get back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bob misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bob tries for a takedown but Kirkland sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bob shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kirkland sprawls well. Kirkland wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bob gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blazing Bob dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Bob tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kirkland paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Kirkland counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Bob!

Well, if Kirkland is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Bob makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bob.

Kirkland has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Bob is on him like a limpet, forcing Kirkland back against the cage.

Kirkland moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Bob throws a big right hand that misses.
Bob wants to stand but Kirkland has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bob is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Kirkland striking off his back but it's not causing Bob any problems.
Kirkland is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kirkland shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bob as he jumps to the side.

Bob moves into the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blazing Bob showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Bob shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kirkland pinned against the cage. Kirkland gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Kirkland.

Bob fails in his attempt to clinch.
Bob closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kirkland circles away.

Bob lands a good knee to the midsection. Kirkland won't want to take too many of those.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bob is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kirkland gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Jarod Kirkland has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Blazing Bob.
Kirkland tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kirkland jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bob walks away with a smile on his face. Kirkland gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Bob has Kirkland up against the cage in a clinch.
Bob is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kirkland is defending well for now.

Kirkland breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kirkland takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Kirkland looks for a takedown but Bob sprawls well.
Kirkland misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kirkland takes a kick to the side of the head.
Bob tries to clinch up but Kirkland circles away and keeps his distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kirkland fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bob avoids it really well and circles away.
Bob throws a big counter head kick but Kirkland avoids it with no problem.
Bob with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Kirkland tries to sprawl but Bob drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Bob has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Bob is looking for a kimura but Kirkland is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bob to get the leverage.

Bob is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kirkland doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bob.

Blazing Bob is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Kirkland will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Blazing Bob comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bob has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
