Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Virgilio Mclean (ranked 25066 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Jones (ranked 6455 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Virgilio Mclean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alex Jones!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Jones closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mclean quickly recovers to half guard.
Jones trying to control the pace.

Mclean is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones controlling the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones is trying to control the action in half guard but Mclean is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mclean. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mclean is positioning himself well to prevent Jones advancing to mount.
Jones content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
It looks like Jones might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Jones feints and as Mclean raises his hands in defense, Jones changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Mclean not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Mclean wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it.
Mclean keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Jones's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Jones drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Mclean has control of Jones's left arm, preventing Jones from doing any damage.
Mclean wants to get back to his feet but Jones is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jones in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jones is looking to stand up but Mclean won't let him.
Jones not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Jones wants to control from the top but Mclean keeps moving.

Jones throws a big elbow that misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mclean goes for a double leg but Jones avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jones continues to drive forward.
Jones is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Mclean gets caught napping as Jones dives in and scores a takedown. Mclean manages to retain guard.
Mclean is trying to keep Jones in close.

Mclean looking for a guillotine here but Jones defends easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jones throws an elbow that misses. Mclean uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Mclean!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones thows a body kick. Mclean tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Mclean has managed to clinch.
Mclean is trying to pull guard but Jones turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Mclean wants a takedown but no success here.

Jones jumps into guard, dragging Mclean to the mat.
Jones avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Mclean content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mclean is one step ahead there.
Jones not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Mclean works over Jones with some ground and pound from guard.
Jones is trying to control the position but Mclean postures up.

Jones isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mclean stacks Jones on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mclean!
Jones wants to control but Mclean postures up.
Mclean lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Jones down.
Jones sneaks back into half guard.
Mclean sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jones defending well though.

Jones on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Mclean trying to control from half guard but Jones is working away.
Mclean working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Jones avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mclean.
Mclean throwing shots but Jones is blocking nicely.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mclean lands a nice short elbow.
Jones is pressing down on Mclean's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Jones is striking but Mclean is not phased and passes to half guard.
Jones is breathing heavily.

Jones tries to get to full guard but Mclean has control of the leg.
Jones trying to control but Mclean postures up.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Mclean scores with a takedown into Jones's guard.
Jones is looking to stand back up but Mclean counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Jones.

Mclean thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Virgilio Mclean overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mclean stands up from half guard.

Jones looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Mclean!

Mclean explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jones manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mclean on his heels. He'll look to pass Mclean's guard now, I'm sure.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Mclean is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Mclean fails with a takedown attempt.

Jones closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mclean is not content to let Jones control the position.

Jones stands up and we're back to a striking position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Mclean moves out of range easily.
Mclean attempts a counter takedown but Jones avoids it well and moves away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mclean.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Mclean explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Horrible takedown attempt by Mclean or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Virgilio Mclean. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mclean looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jones stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Mclean shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Mclean keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Alex Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mclean wants to clinch but Jones slips to the side
and Jones counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mclean really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jones lands with a slapping head kick.
Jones misses with a body punch
and Mclean counters with a body kick.

Mclean gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jones to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Mclean has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Jones has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Mclean turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mclean manages to end up in side control.
Mclean throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Mclean decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Mclean takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Jones drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mclean has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jones off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Jones pushes Mclean up against the cage in a clinch.
Mclean is trying to pull guard but Jones turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Jones manages to break the clinch.

Jones shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mclean napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mclean tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mclean can't do much from the bottom here.
Jones taking a break here but Mclean is having none of it and regains half guard.
Jones is stalling here. Mclean is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jones seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mclean has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Virgilio Mclean.
I think Mclean has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
