Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Royce Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Favalas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Royce Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Favalas!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua doesn't manage to clinch there - Favalas circles away.
Favalas gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rua trying to control but Favalas is working from the bottom.
Rua tries to free his leg and advance position but Favalas is retaining full guard.
Rua thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Rua is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Rua stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Favalas swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Favalas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rua wants to control from the top but Favalas keeps moving.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Royce Rua just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Rua shoots for a takedown but Favalas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Rua is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Favalas pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Rua unloads a knee to the mid-section. Favalas lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rua is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Favalas is controlling him.

Favalas tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rua swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rua shoots in and drives through. Favalas sprawls well.

It looks like Thiago Favalas has been cut.
Rua throws a looping overhand right but Favalas ducks down to avoid it.

Favalas has his foot on Rua's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rua works his way back into a safe position though.

Rua drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Favalas manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rua has Favalas in his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Favalas is trying to control the action in half guard but Rua is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rua is looking for a sweep. Favalas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Favalas seems to be working for a kimura but Rua defends the submission attempt.

Rua is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Favalas pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Favalas wants to free his trapped foot but Rua is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Favalas is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Rua looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rua tries to roll over but Favalas keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Thiago Favalas will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Rua wants to clinch but Favalas slips to the side
and Favalas counters by clinching up.

Rua creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Rua has Favalas pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rua pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Favalas tumbling to the mat - Rua dives into Favalas's guard.
Favalas had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rua is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Favalas Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rua's back instead.

Favalas is trying to stick to Rua's back but Rua is turning into Favalas. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Favalas's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Rua.

Favalas is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Rua can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Rua tries to hold on but Favalas pushes him away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rua tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Favalas get's back to his feet.

Favalas on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Favalas tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rua smiles and moves away.
Royce Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thiago Favalas.

and Favalas counters with a takedown into side control.
Rua is trying to control Favalas's posture but Favalas avoids it.
Rua is looking to regain half guard here but Favalas keeps moving and retains side control.
And that's the end of the fight!

I think Favalas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
