Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Raquel Juarez (ranked 4980 p4p, 609 weight class) and Enzo Makaronelli (ranked 4952 p4p, 607 weight class). Enzo Makaronelli has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Raquel Juarez's chin.

The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makaronelli avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

It looks like Makaronelli might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Makaronelli must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Juarez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Makaronelli defends well.

Juarez throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Makaronelli escapes and throws Juarez's legs to the side, diving into side control!

That was a close round but I would say that Raquel Juarez will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Makaronelli throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Juarez was covering up waiting for the punch and Makaronelli finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Juarez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Makaronelli can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Juarez is trying to drag Makaronelli to the mat but Makaronelli just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Makaronelli has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Juarez has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Juarez has Makaronelli pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Makaronelli manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Juarez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Makaronelli sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Juarez somewhat.

Well Makaronelli has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
