Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Demian Maia (ranked 6389 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Esken Jr (ranked 4965 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Esken Jr as Maia shoots in.
Esken Jr clinches up against the cage.
Esken Jr scores with a nice hook to the head.

Maia tries to land a knee to the head but Esken Jr blocks with his arms.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Esken Jr tries to kick Maia off in order to stand up. Maia Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Maia goes for a takedown attempt but Esken Jr pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Maia jumps guard but Esken Jr stands there with Maia around his waist. Maia gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Maia is breathing heavily.
Esken Jr pulls guard effortlessly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Demian Maia's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Esken Jr rushes Maia and presses him up against the cage.
Maia pulls guard effortlessly.
Maia seems to have got his legs back now.
Esken Jr trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Esken Jr stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Maia has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Esken Jr manages to get his head free but now Maia has transitioned to an armbar! Esken Jr grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Maia! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Demian Maia spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
