On his way into the cage it seems that David Smathers has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily David Smathers seems to be OK! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Smathers shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kan is trying to defend but Smathers finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Smathers looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
