Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ewens Hulk (ranked 9464 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oskars Kalpaks (ranked 6465 p4p, 0 weight class). Oskars Kalpaks will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalpaks tries to clinch there but Hulk circles away.
Oskars Kalpaks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hulk throws a head kick that misses.
Kalpaks tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kalpaks is looking to clinch but Hulk is avoiding it.

Kalpaks closes the distance and clinches.
Kalpaks lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Hulk tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kalpaks smiles and moves away.
Kalpaks avoids the head kick by Hulk.

Hulk fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kalpaks, pushing him back against the cage.
Kalpaks misses with a short punch on the inside.
Hulk tries to pull guard but Kalpaks forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Hulk has Kalpaks pressed against the cage, preventing Kalpaks from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kalpaks lands a nice uppercut.
Kalpaks blocks an uppercut.

Hulk breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Hulk has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kalpaks has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hulk is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Kalpaks wants to get back to striking at distance but Hulk won't allow it.
Kalpaks misses with a punch on the inside.
Hulk lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Kalpaks or not.
Hulk tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ewens Hulk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hulk has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Kalpaks misses with the head strike.
Kalpaks throws a punch but it's blocked by Hulk.
Kalpaks working hard to break the clinch.
Kalpaks is looking to break free of the clinch but Hulk has double underhooks.

Hulk escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kalpaks doesn't manage to clinch there - Hulk circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kalpaks avoids the head kick by Hulk.
Kalpaks throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kalpaks scores with a one two! Hulk had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

It looks like Ewens Hulk has been cut.

Hulk closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kalpaks's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hulk stands and throws Kalpaks's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Hulk stands up and beckons Kalpaks to his feet.

Oooooh!!! Kalpaks has knocked Hulk down with a huge combo! Kalpaks steps away and waves a wobbly Hulk back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Hulk is rocked!
Kalpaks tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hulk paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Oh Hulk is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hulk shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kalpaks's guard.
Kalpaks is looking to stand back up but Hulk counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Kalpaks.
Hulk seems to have got his legs back now.
Kalpaks looks winded!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hulk in particular looking to stall.
Kalpaks is in trouble now - Hulk has advanced to mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kalpaks has left one of his arms exposed and Hulk doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Kalpaks screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ewens Hulk!
