PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Bridges (ranked 4426 p4p, 517 weight class) and Albert Odzimkowski (ranked 6491 p4p, 650 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jason Bridges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Albert Odzimkowski!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Odzimkowski closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bridges to the mat! Bridges manages to get full guard.

The fighters are working up against the ropes. Bridges manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the ropes.
Bridges is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Bridges can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Odzimkowski is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Bridges is defending well though. Odzimkowski let's go of the attempt for now.

and Bridges counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Odzimkowski is lucky that one didn't land flush.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

It looked like Bridges was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Odzimkowski shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bridges as he jumps to the side.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Odzimkowski is looking to take a break and control but Bridges is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Odzimkowski is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Bridges is looking to improve his position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Odzimkowski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bridges circles away.
Bridges appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Bridges lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Odzimkowski fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bridges is looking for a counter combo.
Odzimkowski takes a kick to the side of the head.
Horrible takedown attempt by Odzimkowski or perhaps it was just good defense by Bridges, which made it look bad.
Bridges wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Bridges slaps away a takedown attempt from Odzimkowski, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bridges throws a quick counter head kick but Odzimkowski was just out of range.
Odzimkowski fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A little feinted left hand from Bridges on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Bridges lands a big head kick that sends Odzimkowski tumbling to the mat! Bridges takes a step backwards and waves Odzimkowski back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Bridges is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Odzimkowski can do to turn this around?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Odzimkowski drops his hands momentarily and Bridges needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Odzimkowski just on the top of the head. Odzimkowski drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Odzimkowski - he's done!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jason Bridges!
A less than humble Jason Bridges misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
