Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alonzo Highsmith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Bama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bama has chosen my life as his entrance music. Alonzo Highsmith had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 266.2lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Chris Bama is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bama decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Bama looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Bama with the ground and pound but Highsmith uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Highsmith has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bama can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bama would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Highsmith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Highsmith is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bama wants to get back to full guard.
Highsmith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bama keeps working.

Highsmith has hold of Bama's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Bama manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Highsmith can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bama is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Highsmith cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Bama is trying desperately to improve position.
Bama manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Highsmith shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Highsmith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bama defends it well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Highsmith wants to pass the guard but Bama is keeping the position.
Bama bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Highsmith's guard.

Highsmith is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Bama drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Highsmith dives on top into guard.
Highsmith wants to control from the top but Bama keeps moving.
Bama wants to sweep but no luck.
Highsmith passes into half guard.
Bama is looking to improve his position.
Bama makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bama.

Highsmith stuffs the takedown attempt from Bama. Bama gets slowly back to his feet.

Bama throws a strike but Highsmith rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Highsmith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bama is on top in guard.

Bama stands and steps away. Highsmith gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Highsmith lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Bama backs up against the cage.

Highsmith has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Bama.

Bama goes for a takedown in the clinch but Highsmith prevents it.
Alonzo Highsmith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Bama.

Highsmith manages to pull guard.

Bama drops back, looking for a kneebar! Highsmith looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Highsmith looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Highsmith!

Bama tries to buck Highsmith off but Highsmith is having none of it.
Bama seems to have recovered his senses.
Bama is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Highsmith asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Highsmith looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Bama is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Highsmith's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Highsmith is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Highsmith decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Highsmith gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bama regains guard.

Bama is pressed up against the cage. Highsmith has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bama down to the mat. Bama avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Highsmith shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Highsmith showed some decent athleticism there.
Bama is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Highsmith's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Highsmith's back!

Bama is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Highsmith is in real trouble.

Bama is cranking Highsmith's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Highsmith! He's tightened the choke and Highsmith is tapping out!
