The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rydell dives in and scores a takedown into Payakarakatong's guard.
Rydell sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Rydell tries to free his leg and advance position but Payakarakatong is retaining full guard.

Rydell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rydell trying to control the position from guard on top but Payakarakatong is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rydell is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Rydell's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Payakarakatong is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rydell is working Payakarakatong over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Rydell loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Payakarakatong has his foot on Rydell's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rydell works his way back into a safe position though.

Payakarakatong escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rydell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Payakarakatong is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rydell defends well.
Rydell passes Payakarakatong's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Rydell maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Payakarakatong could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Rydell has cracked it and Payakarakatong is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Rydell!
