Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sandro Franco (ranked 9430 p4p, 343 weight class) and Samuel Levert (ranked 24277 p4p, 381 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Franco. No joy for Levert on that attempt.
Franco misses with a takedown attempt - Levert sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Franco on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Franco tries to get out of the position.

Levert stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Franco swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Levert shoots in for a takedown but Franco shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Sandro Franco has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samuel Levert.

and Franco counters with a series of strikes. Levert will be more careful next time no doubt.

Franco has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Levert is trying to keep an underhook but Franco manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Franco looks to land a strike but Levert avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Franco drops back looking for a leg! Levert is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Levert manages to kick Franco off! Franco jumps back into Levert's guard.
Franco wants to stand but Levert is controlling his posture from full guard.

Levert escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Franco gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Levert has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Franco can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Levert has his foot on Franco's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Franco works his way back into a safe position though.

Levert lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Franco manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Levert manages to get himself to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Franco accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Franco wants to pass the guard but Levert is keeping the position.

Levert is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Franco has his hands clasped together but Levert extends and breaks Franco's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Levert.
