Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Milan Fowler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Soda Can!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Francis DeMontford and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Can gets a double leg takedown into Fowler's guard.
Fowler is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Can is controlling him.
Can content to stall in guard here.
Can trying to control the position from guard on top but Fowler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Can won't allow Fowler to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fowler controls Can momentarily but Can frees himself.

Can has gone for a leg lock! Fowler slips out almost immediately though and dives into Can's guard.

Fowler is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fowler landing some decent shots from guard.
Can bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fowler's guard.

Fowler is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Can showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Can gets to his feet. Fowler looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Can scores with a takedown into Fowler's guard.

Fowler manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Can looks winded!

Fowler kicks Can off and gets to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Can gets a takedown into half guard.
Fowler is trying to maintain the position but Can is very close to passing his half guard.

Can keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Fowler trying to control from the bottom.
Fowler might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Fowler is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Can is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Fowler could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Fowler is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Can's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Can's back!

Fowler is persistently looking for the submission but Can is defending it well.

Fowler looking for the choke but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Can just trying to survive but Fowler is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Can covering up well under a series of strikes from Fowler.

Can defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Fowler's arms.
Fowler connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Can to escape the position.

Fowler patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Fowler throwing strikes and Can squirms under the pressure, ending up mounted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Milan Fowler dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Can looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Fowler!
Can sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Fowler is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fowler is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Can's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Can not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Can is trying to control the action in half guard but Fowler is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Can not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Can is thwarting Fowler's attempts to control the position.
Fowler wants to get back to his feet.
Can is breathing heavily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Can throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Can bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Can shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fowler napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Fowler bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Fowler misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Fowler tries a head kick but it misses.
Can throws a sloppy head kick and Fowler moves out of range easily.
Fowler went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Can closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Fowler working hard to break the clinch.
Fowler is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Can manages to break the clinch.

Can has Fowler up against the cage in a clinch.

Can ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Can no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Can looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fowler is one step ahead there.
Can is trying to control the position but Fowler postures up.
Fowler wants to stand but Can has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Can avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Fowler with a nice head shot there.
Can working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Fowler.
Can is pulling down on Fowler's head to control his posture.
Fowler keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Can's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fowler throwing strikes from guard but Can blocks nicely.
Can throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Can thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Can is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fowler's half guard.

Fowler kicks Can off and gets back to his feet.

Can throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fowler tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Can is in Fowler's guard.
Fowler not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Milan Fowler will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Can scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Can is looking to take a break and control but Fowler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Fowler tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Can trying to control the position but Fowler is working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Milan Fowler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Can takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Can decides to stand back up.
Can throws a lazy body kick
and Fowler counters with a head kick.
Can throws a predictable looking body shot
and Fowler counters with a nice uppercut.
Fowler blocks a head kick by Can.
Fowler feinted with a counter takedown.
Fowler shoots in but Can avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Fowler moves into the clinch successfully.

Can pulls guard.
Fowler postures up in Can's guard and throws a big left but Can blocks it.
Fowler has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Fowler gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Fowler scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Fowler is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Can sees it coming and defends easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fowler is thwarting Can's attempts to control the position.

Fowler is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Can has managed to free his arm - good work.
Can is looking to control Fowler's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Can avoid being mounted?

Fowler is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Fowler is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Can doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fowler.
Fowler lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Can kicks off Fowler and gets to his feet.

Can instigates a clinch.

Can breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Can looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Fowler!

Fowler throws Can to one side and escapes!
Fowler paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Can gets a takedown into half guard.

Fowler manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Can keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Milan Fowler showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fowler, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
