Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Wesley Pipes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gary Corbett!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, David Hoff and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pipes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Corbett sprawls well initially but Pipes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Corbett punching from the bottom.
Pipes is pressing down on Corbett's thigh, looking to free his foot. Corbett is holding on for now.
Pipes trying to control the pace.
Corbett trying to control from the bottom.
Corbett keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pipes content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Corbett tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pipes seems to be working for a kimura but Corbett defends the submission attempt.

Pipes is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Corbett misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Pipes tries to pass the half guard into mount. Corbett knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Pipes is working for a kimura but Corbett is defending it quite comfortably.

Pipes is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Corbett defends it well.
Pipes has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Pipes working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Pipes swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Corbett is now in Pipes's guard. A big mistake from Pipes there, giving up the dominant position!
Pipes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Corbett is fighting to break Pipes's control of his arms but Pipes is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Pipes working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Corbett.
Corbett stands up over Pipes, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Corbett in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Corbett distracts Pipes with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Pipes is adopting a defensive guard.
Corbett wanted to stand there but Pipes had control of the position.
Pipes is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Corbett won't allow Pipes to sweep him here.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Corbett's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Pipes wants to sweep here but Corbett controlling him for the moment.
Corbett has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Corbett loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Pipes seems keen to control Corbett's posture.
Corbett throws a big right hand that misses.
Pipes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pipes is controlling Corbett's posture.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Wesley Pipes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pipes drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Corbett's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Pipes tries for a kimura but Corbett is defending well.
Pipes controls the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Pipes looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Pipes takes a little break here. Corbett wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wesley Pipes dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Pipes stuffs the takedown attempt from Corbett. Corbett gets slowly back to his feet.

Pipes throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Corbett was covering up waiting for the punch and Pipes finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Corbett is trying to keep Pipes in close.
Pipes stands and throws Corbett's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Pipes controlling the position from side mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Corbett throws an elbow that doesn't really do any damage.

Pipes working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Corbett tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Corbett's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Corbett is breathing heavily.

Pipes looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Corbett wants to control but Pipes postures up.

Pipes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Corbett has escaped the position, nice work there.

Pipes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Pipes has hold of Corbett's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Corbett tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Pipes cranks the arm and Corbett screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Corbett, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Wesley Pipes!
