Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Hudson (ranked 25182 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leighton Davis (ranked 6288 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis throws the left hand but Hudson avoids the punch easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Davis gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Davis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Davis sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Hudson really is a fat lump.

Hudson is looking for a triangle but Davis pushes his legs off easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hudson wants to stand but Davis is controlling the position.

Davis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hudson was covering up waiting for the punch and Davis finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Hudson wants to stand up but Davis is controlling him.

Davis stays in close to Hudson's body and controls the position.
Davis's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hudson wants to get back to his feet but Davis passes into half guard.
Hudson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hudson pushes Davis off looking to stand but Davis dives back in and keeps control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hudson avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Davis throws a low kick but Hudson moves out of range easily.
Hudson is looking for a counter combo.
Davis is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hudson.
Leighton Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Davis is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Hudson is defending well for now.

Davis has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hudson regains guard immediately.
Davis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hudson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

and Hudson counters with a thumping low kick.

Davis closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hudson's guard.
Hudson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Davis manages to pass to side control.

Leighton Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Davis throws a shot from downtown. Hudson moves away and avoids it.

Hudson has Davis pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Davis manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Hudson is trying to stall.

Hudson struggles to land a body shot inside as Davis controls his hands.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Davis. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Hudson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Davis is controlling the pace.

Hudson wants to improve his position but Davis is controlling well.
Davis is taking a breather. Hudson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Davis rushes Hudson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Davis on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Davis stalls.
Hudson tries to circle away but Davis has him pinned against the cage.
Davis tries to work over Hudson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Hudson tries to score a body lock takedown but Davis shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Hudson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Davis has Hudson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Davis pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hudson tumbling to the mat - Davis dives into Hudson's guard.
Hudson is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Davis dives into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hudson is pushing Davis's head away, looking to escape. Davis manages to hold on to the position though.

Leighton Davis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Davis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
