Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Vieira (ranked 1942 p4p, 287 weight class) and Dan Tasker (ranked 2011 p4p, 298 weight class). Dan Tasker is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eduardo Vieira!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dan Tasker!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tasker darts in looking for a takedown but Vieira gets double underhooks and turns Tasker into the cage.

Tasker looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Vieira tries to roll over but Tasker keeps him under control.
Tasker not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Vieira regains full guard. Nicely done.
Tasker lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Tasker trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Tasker trying to control but Vieira is working from the bottom.
Vieira has control of Tasker's left arm, preventing Tasker from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

My spies in The Zoo inform me that Tasker has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Tasker pushes down on Vieira's leg and manages to get into half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Vieira is trying to get back to full guard.
Tasker lands with a punch from half guard.
Vieira holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Vieira trying to control but Tasker postures up.

Tasker is working for a submission of some sort.
Tasker is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Tasker is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vieira sees it coming and defends easily.
Tasker prevents Vieira from improving his position.
Tasker wants to control but Vieira is keeping him busy.

Tasker seems to be working for a kimura but Vieira defends the submission attempt.
Tasker is thwarting Vieira's attempts to control the position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Vieira is not content to let Tasker control the position.

Tasker is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Tasker wants to work for an arm triangle but Vieira is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are battling for position here. Vieira manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vieira is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tasker is aware though and is defending well.
Vieira tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vieira not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Vieira has his foot on Tasker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tasker works his way back into a safe position though.
Tasker wants to control from the top but Vieira keeps moving.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Tasker dominated that round.
That's time! Vieira's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Tasker fails with a takedown attempt.
Tasker doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

and Vieira counters with a nice uppercut.
Dan Tasker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tasker tries to clinch there but Vieira circles away.
Vieira jabs Tasker right on the nose. Tasker blinks but takes it well.
Tasker tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vieira swats him away and circles back towards the center.
An attempted straight right counter from Vieira misses the target.
Vieira connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Tasker momentarily.
Dan Tasker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Vieira stuffs the takedown attempt from Tasker. Tasker gets slowly back to his feet.
Eduardo Vieira has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Tasker.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Vieira counters with a three punch combo that has Tasker backing up. Tasker nods at Vieira to acknowledge the strikes.
Vieira fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vieira leaves Tasker with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Tasker misses with a few strikes there.
Tasker shoots and misses
letting Vieira counter with a right hand.
Vieira darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Tasker gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Tasker takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


Tasker is rocked!
Tasker is breathing heavily.
Vieira connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Tasker tumbling to the canvas! Vieira pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Tasker was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Eduardo Vieira!
