PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Janusz Tracz (ranked 5244 p4p, 603 weight class) and Malcolm McKenzie (ranked 5955 p4p, 667 weight class). Malcolm McKenzie will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Malcolm McKenzie!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tracz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McKenzie defends well and Tracz ends up having to push McKenzie into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
McKenzie pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Tracz takes the fight into the clinch.

Tracz is trying to drag McKenzie to the mat but McKenzie just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tracz wants to take the fight to the mat but McKenzie manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

McKenzie throws a looping overhand right but Tracz ducks down to avoid it.
Tracz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McKenzie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tracz was well out of range. Poor timing from McKenzie.
Tracz attempts a counter takedown but McKenzie avoids it well and moves away.

Tracz feints and as McKenzie raises his hands in defense, Tracz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Tracz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
McKenzie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tracz is one step ahead there.
Tracz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

McKenzie throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tracz slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
McKenzie looking to control but Tracz passes into half guard.
We've been informed that McKenzie has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

McKenzie is looking to improve his position but Tracz isn't that keen on the idea.

McKenzie wants to control but Tracz is having none of it.

McKenzie turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
McKenzie misses the shot to the body.
McKenzie missing with a left hand there. Tracz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

McKenzie tries to sprawl but Tracz drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Tracz in particular looking to stall.
McKenzie is looking to control Tracz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McKenzie avoid being mounted?

McKenzie is trying to maintain the position but Tracz is very close to passing his half guard.

McKenzie misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Tracz not doing much here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Tracz misses with a takedown attempt - McKenzie sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
McKenzie stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Tracz tries to close the distance and clinch but McKenzie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Tracz backing away here, and McKenzie unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

and Tracz counters with a nice double leg into side control. McKenzie won't be happy with that.
Tracz just content to control the position.
McKenzie can't do much from the bottom here.
McKenzie gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Tracz perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Malcolm McKenzie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Tracz goes for a double leg but McKenzie avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as McKenzie continues to drive forward.

Tracz is figuring out what he wants to do next.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Well, if Tracz is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
McKenzie pushes Tracz off looking to stand but Tracz dives back in and keeps control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
McKenzie swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Tracz.
Tracz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McKenzie is fending him off so far but Tracz persists. Nope, McKenzie circles away and we're back to standing.
McKenzie appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
McKenzie slips a straight right by Tracz.
Tracz lands a nice looking body shot.
McKenzie pivots, looking for a leg kick but Tracz is out of range and McKenzie settles back down.

and Tracz counters with a shoot takedown. McKenzie fights it but they end up in guard.
McKenzie wants to stand up but Tracz is controlling him.

Janusz Tracz showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Tracz has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
