Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lanny Conway (ranked 25494 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Dupuis (ranked 6366 p4p, 0 weight class). David Dupuis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lanny Conway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Dupuis!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conway fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dupuis tries to counter with a clinch but Conway shakes him off and moves away.
Conway gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Dupuis counters with a right hand to the body.
A shot to the liver by Dupuis. Beautiful body shot.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Conway enables Dupuis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Conway manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Dupuis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dupuis engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Dupuis stands up from guard. Let's bang!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dupuis fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Conway looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Conway closes the distance and clinches up with Dupuis, looking for a takedown. Conway pushes Dupuis against the cage but Dupuis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lanny Conway. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Conway is breathing heavily.

Dupuis shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Conway is trying to defend but Dupuis finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Conway is trying to maintain the position but Dupuis is very close to passing his half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dupuis is taking a breather. Conway says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Dupuis not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dupuis is figuring out what he wants to do next.
It looks like Dupuis might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Conway trying to control but Dupuis postures up.
Dupuis scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Dupuis controlling the action here.
Conway is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dupuis scores with a couple of good hammerfists.


It looks like Lanny Conway has been cut.
Dupuis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Dupuis is taking a breather. Conway says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Conway is trying to get back to full guard.
Dupuis passes into side control, despite Conway's attempt to control the position.
Dupuis lands an elbow.

Dupuis has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Conway misses with a takedown

and Dupuis counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Conway could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Dupuis has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Conway uses from the top position.
Conway might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Conway content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Dupuis controlling the position.
Dupuis is continuing to stall.
Conway won't allow Dupuis to sweep him here.

Dupuis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Conway gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Conway showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Dupuis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Dupuis dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Lanny Conway's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Conway has a takedown stuffed.

Dupuis shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Dupuis passes to full mount!
Dupuis scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Conway sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Dupuis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Dupuis decides to return to a standing position.

Dupuis closes the distance and clinches.

Dupuis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Dupuis lands a head shot.


Lanny Conway's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
David Dupuis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dupuis rushes Conway with punches - Conway moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Conway goes down! Dupuis follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Dupuis!
David Dupuis decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
