The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martinez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Rose fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Martinez blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rose blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Rose tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Martinez is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Barry Martinez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luis Rose.
Rose is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Martinez is defending well.
Martinez lands a hook that snaps the head of Rose backwards.
Rose is stalling here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rose can't get the takedown.
Rose goes for a takedown attempt but Martinez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Martinez gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Martinez's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Rose tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Martinez just stands there and leans against the cage.

Rose gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Martinez tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Rose manages to move to mount!
Martinez is in all sorts of trouble here.

Rose is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Martinez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Martinez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rose on the ground.
Martinez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rose tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Martinez wants to hold on but Rose pushes him away.

Rose lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Martinez is rocked!
Rose is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Oh Martinez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rose postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Martinez badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Rose around the waist but Rose pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Rose is the winner by TKO! Rose jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
