Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Grant McCombie (ranked 7292 p4p, 511 weight class) and Ignatius Thistlewhite (ranked 4130 p4p, 375 weight class). McCombie comes into the arena with the twist blaring out of the sound system. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thistlewhite shoots in for a takedown but McCombie shows good takedown defense.
McCombie changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Thistlewhite lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
McCombie misses with a low kick.
Thistlewhite tries for a takedown but McCombie circles away easily
and McCombie counters with a thumping low kick.
Thistlewhite misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McCombie.
McCombie fails with the takedown.
McCombie misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Thistlewhite is trying hard to land a takedown here. McCombie sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Grant McCombie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ignatius Thistlewhite.
McCombie is looking to clinch but Thistlewhite is avoiding it.
Thistlewhite doesn't manage to clinch there - McCombie circles away.
Thistlewhite shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McCombie manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Thistlewhite is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Thistlewhite drops back looking for a leg! McCombie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McCombie manages to kick Thistlewhite off! Thistlewhite jumps back into McCombie's guard.
Thistlewhite cracks McCombie with a solid left hand.

Thistlewhite thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Thistlewhite postures up and lands a big shot to McCombie's brow.
Thistlewhite has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Thistlewhite throwing strikes from guard but McCombie blocks nicely.
McCombie wants to stand up but Thistlewhite is controlling him.
Thistlewhite is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Thistlewhite cracks McCombie with a solid left hand.
Thistlewhite distracts McCombie with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
McCombie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Thistlewhite can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McCombie trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Thistlewhite working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of McCombie's head.
Thistlewhite is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Thistlewhite postures up and lands a big shot to McCombie's brow.
McCombie has momentary wrist control but Thistlewhite slips an elbow through the middle.
McCombie is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Thistlewhite landing some decent shots from guard.
Thistlewhite chips away with some ground and pound.
Thistlewhite is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Thistlewhite lands a couple of digs.
Thistlewhite pushes down on McCombie's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Thistlewhite is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McCombie has managed to free his arm - good work.
Thistlewhite frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
McCombie defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Thistlewhite.
McCombie is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Thistlewhite cracks McCombie with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Thistlewhite is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. McCombie can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
McCombie is rocked!
Thistlewhite has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of McCombie's face.
Oh McCombie is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Thistlewhite is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. McCombie can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Thistlewhite lands with some strikes.
Thistlewhite is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, McCombie has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McCombie wants to control but Thistlewhite is having none of it.
Thistlewhite throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! McCombie has his hands clasped together but Thistlewhite breaks the hold and McCombie is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Thistlewhite!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ignatius Thistlewhite!
Ignatius Thistlewhite seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
Grant McCombie spoke after the fight, saying 'did i really just lose that?'.
