Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josiah Roman (ranked 23775 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Brown (ranked 6398 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Josiah Roman has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Josiah Roman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Barry Brown!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Roman jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Brown fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Roman to the ground. Brown is now in Roman's guard.
Roman will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Brown wanted to stand there but Roman had control of the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Roman throws a couple of heel strikes.
Brown slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Brown is trying to work for a kimura but Roman is defending well.
Brown seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Roman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Roman is looking for a sweep. Brown is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Roman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brown on the ground.
Brown wants to take a breather but Roman is having none of it.
Brown working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Brown thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Roman's head.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Brown is working for a kimura but Roman is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Brown passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Roman!
Brown content just to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Brown throws a half hearted mid kick.

Brown moves into range and clinches up with Roman.

Brown has taken the fight to the clinch.
Brown tries for a takedown but Roman manages to get underhooks.
Roman has Brown pressed against the cage, preventing Brown from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Roman is looking to break free of the clinch but Brown has double underhooks.

Roman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Brown shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Roman but Roman pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Brown fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Roman avoids it really well and circles away.
Roman tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Brown manages to circle out of the way.

and Roman counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Brown seems keen to control Roman's posture.
Roman loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Brown is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Brown is taking a breather. Roman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Roman is trying to control but Brown passes into side control!

Brown is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Roman has escaped the position, nice work there.
Brown remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Brown lands a nice forearm strike.

Roman is trying to improve his position.

Brown goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Roman rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Brown's guard! Nice work there by Roman!

Brown utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Brown is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Roman is controlling him.
Brown is pulling down on Roman's head. It's preventing any offense from Roman, at least for the moment.

Brown looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Brown is breathing heavily.
Brown not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Roman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Roman lands a couple of digs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brown has his hands on Roman's head, controlling the position.
Roman tries to stand but Brown is controlling from the bottom.

Brown dives in for a single leg takedown but Roman sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Brown tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Roman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Roman looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Horrible takedown attempt by Brown or perhaps it was just good defense by Roman, which made it look bad.
Roman avoids a punch combination nicely.

Roman gets to his feet. Brown looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brown pushes a forearm under Roman's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Roman is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
