Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wellington Carvalho (ranked 6353 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabricio Laranja (ranked 25130 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wellington Carvalho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabricio Laranja!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laranja shoots in but Carvalho avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Carvalho scores with a one two! Laranja had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Carvalho shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Carvalho is figuring out what he wants to do next.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carvalho's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Laranja is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Carvalho pulls his head out easily.

Carvalho stands up out of the half guard.
Carvalho throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Laranja was covering up waiting for the punch and Carvalho finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Laranja working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carvalho doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carvalho manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Carvalho gets to his feet - Laranja follows without any prompting.
Carvalho shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Laranja is trying to defend but Carvalho finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carvalho tries to pass the half guard into mount. Laranja knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Carvalho lands a nice short elbow.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wellington Carvalho dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Carvalho counters by clinching up.
Laranja tries to pull guard but Carvalho holds him up against the cage and eventually Laranja drops back down to his feet.
Laranja is fighting off a takedown attempt but Carvalho is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Laranja to the mat. Laranja regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Carvalho not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Carvalho is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Laranja can do to turn this around?
Carvalho postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Laranja controls Carvalho momentarily but Carvalho frees himself.

Carvalho got a little sloppy there for a moment and Laranja has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carvalho has managed to get both his arms back between Laranja's legs - danger averted.
Laranja looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Carvalho has picked Laranja up and slammed him! Laranja can't keep hold of the triangle and Carvalho manages to pass to side control!
Carvalho is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Laranja is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Wellington Carvalho overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Laranja sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carvalho winds up and cracks Laranja with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Carvalho wants to free his trapped foot but Laranja is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Laranja shoots in looking for a takedown but Carvalho manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Laranja's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Carvalho tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Laranja manages to circle out of the way.

and Carvalho counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Carvalho.
Carvalho turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Carvalho manages to end up in side control.

Carvalho is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Laranja's shoulder. That is not cool.

Laranja is squirming around, avoiding Carvalho's attempts to control the action.
Carvalho takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Carvalho is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Laranja has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Carvalho feints and as Laranja raises his hands in defense, Carvalho changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Carvalho is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Laranja has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Carvalho is looking to defend but Laranja has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Carvalho! Laranja pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Carvalho taps out and this one is all over!
