Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matty Mcdowell!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcdowell walks into a stiff left hand from Jones.


It looks like Matty Mcdowell has been cut.
Mcdowell is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Mcdowell attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Matty Mcdowell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mcdowell wants to clinch.
Jones lands a jab to the nose.
Jones lands with a hook. Mcdowell tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Jones scores with a takedown into Mcdowell's guard.
Jones content to stall in guard here.
Jones trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Jones drops back looking for a leg! Mcdowell is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mcdowell manages to kick Jones off! Jones jumps back into Mcdowell's guard.

Jones stands and steps away. Mcdowell gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Nice straight punches there by Jones. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Jones.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Mcdowell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Mcdowell is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Mcdowell is looking for a triangle but Jones pushes his legs off easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mcdowell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Mcdowell looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jones shoots in and bounces Mcdowell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Jones gets to his feet. Mcdowell looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Jones moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Jones keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mcdowell's head.
Jones controls from within his opponent's guard.
Mcdowell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jones lands a couple of elbows.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones is looking to work some ground and pound but Mcdowell has wrist control.
Mcdowell working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jones.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Jones gets to his feet - Mcdowell follows without any prompting.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mcdowell looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mcdowell dodges the punch combination from Jones.

Jones drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Mcdowell struggling a bit here.
Jones looks up at the clock and then as Mcdowell takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jones smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mcdowell is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jones's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Jones lands with a punch from half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mcdowell takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jones connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Mcdowell throws a chopping leg kick but Jones manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jones trying to control the action but Mcdowell is working from the bottom.
Johnny Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jones looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Jones scores with punches from side control.
Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mcdowell keeps working.

Mcdowell is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Jones is controlling him well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mcdowell sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Mcdowell is breathing heavily.

Mcdowell keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Jones is nestled in close to Mcdowell, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Mcdowell wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Johnny Jones just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Jones clinches up with Mcdowell and pushes him back against the cage.
Jones can't get the takedown.
Jones tries to score a body lock takedown but Mcdowell shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Jones on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Jones keeps control of Mcdowell as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Mcdowell tries for a takedown. No joy.
Mcdowell is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jones gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Jones tries to score a body lock takedown but Mcdowell shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

and Jones decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mcdowell's guard.

Jones throws a big right hand that misses.
Jones missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Jones sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mcdowell's guard.

Jones gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Jones paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jones lands with an uppercut that bounces Mcdowell off the cage and back into rage.

Jones drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mcdowell can do to turn this around?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mcdowell needs to keep his hands up - Jones had a free shot at his head there.

Jones changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mcdowell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Jones is looking to take a break and control but Mcdowell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ground and pound from Jones seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Jones laying and praying for a moment but Mcdowell takes advantage and regains half guard.
Mcdowell makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mcdowell.
