PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Bozzi (ranked 7065 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fujiwara Tsuyoshi (ranked 2807 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Bozzi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fujiwara Tsuyoshi!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tsuyoshi waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Bozzi.
Tsuyoshi lands a really nice looking cross but Bozzi seems unphased.

Bozzi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The strikes coming from Bozzi are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Tsuyoshi is not content to let Bozzi control the position.
Tsuyoshi tries to bench press Bozzi off him but Bozzi keeps the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bozzi lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Tsuyoshi down.
Bozzi misses with the ground and pound.

Tsuyoshi gets back to half guard.
Bozzi trying to control the action but Tsuyoshi is working from the bottom.
Bozzi looks to land a strike but Tsuyoshi avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Tsuyoshi has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Tsuyoshi holds on and takes a little breather.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bozzi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tsuyoshi is fending him off so far but Bozzi persists. Nope, Tsuyoshi circles away and we're back to standing.

Tsuyoshi takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
A combination from Tsuyoshi does no damage.
Bozzi misses with a leg kick
and Tsuyoshi counters with a left and a right that stings Bozzi.
Bozzi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tsuyoshi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Tsuyoshi stuffs the takedown.
Tsuyoshi has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Bozzi is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Bozzi throws a leg kick that misses.
Tsuyoshi scores with a one two! Bozzi had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Bozzi wants to clinch.
A little jabbing left from Tsuyoshi on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bozzi is defended easily by Tsuyoshi.
Tsuyoshi raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Bozzi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tsuyoshi throws a series of punches but Bozzi avoids them all with ease.
Tsuyoshi misses with an attempted mid kick.
It looked like Bozzi was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Tsuyoshi.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
No luck for Bozzi with that takedown attempt.
Tsuyoshi raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bozzi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fujiwara Tsuyoshi dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Bozzi jumps guard but Tsuyoshi turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Tsuyoshi tries to work over Bozzi's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Tsuyoshi defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bozzi.
Jason Bozzi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Bozzi looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Tsuyoshi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bozzi wants to take a breather but Tsuyoshi is having none of it.

Jason Bozzi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tsuyoshi tries a quick counter leg kick but Bozzi is wise to it.
Bozzi shoots in looking for a takedown but Tsuyoshi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bozzi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bozzi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Fujiwara Tsuyoshi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Tsuyoshi scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bozzi doesn't seem bothered though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fujiwara Tsuyoshi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Tsuyoshi winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
