Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Conrad Calacon (ranked 920 p4p, 129 weight class) and Merle Highchurch (ranked 3602 p4p, 435 weight class). Merle Highchurch struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Highchurch has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Calacon lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Highchurch up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Calacon from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Highchurch's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
