Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Armand Holtz (ranked 5044 p4p, 581 weight class) and Nikke Niputtaja (ranked 6402 p4p, 661 weight class). Holtz has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Armand Holtz had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holtz misses with a low kick.

Niputtaja closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Holtz's guard.

Niputtaja postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Holtz leaves Niputtaja with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Niputtaja tries a head kick but it misses.
Niputtaja lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
A lazy left from Niputtaja finds it's target.
Niputtaja takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Niputtaja is trying hard to land a takedown here. Holtz sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Holtz closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Niputtaja did well to prevent Holtz getting side control.

Niputtaja is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Holtz pulls his head out easily.
Niputtaja has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
