PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kent Fuentes (ranked 9586 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bart Vale (ranked 6232 p4p, 0 weight class). Vale comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Meltdown kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fuentes wants to clinch up but Vale keeps it at a distance.
Fuentes misses with a wild combination.
Fuentes shoots in for a takedown but Vale shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Fuentes tries a head kick but it misses.

Fuentes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Vale is trying to maintain the position but Fuentes is very close to passing his half guard.

Vale bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fuentes's guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Fuentes tries to counter with a takedown but Vale is quick to defend against it.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Vale pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Vale tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fuentes was well out of range. Poor timing from Vale.
Fuentes throws a counter high kick but Vale was just alert enough to avoid it.
Fuentes gets cracked there but stands up to it.

It looks like Kent Fuentes has been cut.

Vale forces Fuentes back against the cage and clinches.

Fuentes jumps guard and drags Vale to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Fuentes fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Vale has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Vale is working for takedown but Fuentes is calmly controlling the position for now.
Vale has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Fuentes after a bit of a struggle.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Vale just misses with a elbow thrown towards Fuentes's brow.

Fuentes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Vale got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fuentes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vale has managed to get both his arms back between Fuentes's legs - danger averted.

Fuentes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kent Fuentes.
I think Vale has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
