Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Maul (ranked 1610 p4p, 235 weight class) and Rob Dyrdek (ranked 2191 p4p, 314 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

With a record of 9 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Rob Dyrdek!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dyrdek ducks under a wild hook from Maul.
Dyrdek wants to counter with a clinch but Maul pushes him away.
Maul looks to land a right hand but Dyrdek moved out of range.
A little jabbing left from Dyrdek on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Maul closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Rob Dyrdek has been cut.
Maul scores with a nice strike.
Dyrdek fails in his attempt to clinch.

Maul is looking for a counter combo.
Maul looks to score with a jab to the body but Dyrdek is just out of range.

Dyrdek walks into a stiff left hand from Maul.

Dyrdek shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Maul thows a body kick. Dyrdek tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Maul fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Dyrdek looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Maul connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Paul Maul seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maul misses the shot to the body.
Maul is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Maul is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dyrdek can do to turn this around?

Maul wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dyrdek has him pressed against the cage.

Maul wants the takedown. Dyrdek is fighting it off but Maul persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Dyrdek's guard against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dyrdek is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Maul defends well.

Dyrdek working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maul doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maul manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Maul, as that shot connected.

Dyrdek tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Dyrdek has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Maul scores with a jab to the head.
Dyrdek has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Maul finds it's way round the side to connect with Dyrdek's head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Dyrdek gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Dyrdek lands an elbow that stopped Maul in his tracks for a moment.
Maul lands an uppercut.
A knee to the head by Dyrdek.
Maul stalls.
Maul tries to stall but Dyrdek uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Paul Maul showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Maul, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
