PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Philip Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Gibson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Power is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. On his way into the cage it seems that Philip Power has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Philip Power seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Philip Power!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Gibson!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibson shoots in but no luck this time.
Power is breathing heavily.
Gibson looks for a takedown but Power sprawls well.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gibson.
Philip Power has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaron Gibson.
Gibson tries a head kick but it misses.

Gibson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Power is looking to get to half guard.

Gibson cracks Power with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Gibson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Power kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Power is bucking up trying to escape but Gibson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Gibson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gibson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Gibson is pushing down on Power's leg trying to pass to half guard. Power is fighting to maintain full guard but Gibson has managed to sneak the leg through.

Gibson wants to control but Power is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Philip Power will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

so Power counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Gibson has momentary wrist control but Power slips an elbow through the middle.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gibson throws a right and a left that both miss.

Power feints and as Gibson raises his hands in defense, Power changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gibson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gibson controls Power momentarily but Power frees himself.

Gibson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Power stacks Gibson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Power!
