The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pernadez connects with an inside leg kick.
Pernadez throws a right and a left that both miss.
Pernadez throws a sloppy head kick and Pipes moves out of range easily.
Pipes fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Pipes definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Pipes closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Pernadez is trying to escape back to his feet but Pipes uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Pipes happy to just control the position for now.

Pipes tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Pipes working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pipes is trying to get an arm triangle but Pernadez is defending well.

Pernadez tries to buck Pipes off but Pipes is having none of it.

Pipes working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Pernadez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pipes's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Pipes! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Pernadez has tapped! This one is allllll over!
