Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Smith (ranked 5800 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Garces (ranked 7652 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Smith might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sweet Emotion. Miguel Garces has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with John Smith's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith looks to throw the jab but Garces is out of range.

Smith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Garces was covering up waiting for the punch and Smith finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Smith controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Garces throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garces swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Garces is trying to control the position but Smith postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Garces escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Garces sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Smith.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smith, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, John Smith was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
