Reid's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Living in America by James Brown. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Reid misses

and Murder counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Reid!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reid bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

and Murder counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Reid has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Murder off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Reid throws a jab when Murder was well out of range.

A little jabbing left from Murder on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Reid lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Murder backs up against the cage.

Reid tries to grapple but his opponent circles
letting Murder counter with a right hand.
Reid misses with an uppercut.
And Murder tries to counter it with a takedown but Reid pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Reid wants to land a leg kick but Murder is out of range.
Murder looks like he wants to counter punch here.

and Murder counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Reid has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Murder is on him like a limpet, forcing Reid back against the cage.

Reid struggles to land a body shot inside as Murder controls his hands.
Murder jumps guard but Reid stands there with Murder around his waist. Murder gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Reid lands a head kick. Murder smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Reid ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

It seemed like Murder was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Reid misses with the combination.
Murder let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Apollo Reid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reid throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Murder counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Reid thinking.

Reid misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Reid swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Reid throws a hook to the side of Murder's head but Murder sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Reid jabs Murder to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Murder feints the counter takedown.

Murder swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Murder is trying to break the clinch but Reid is controlling him.
Reid has Murder pressed against the cage.
Murder fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Reid is pushing Murder up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

and Murder counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Reid throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Murder's head.

Whack! Reid lands a heavy head kick that drops Murder. The ref tackles Reid to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Murder was done.
