Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fouad Barayev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn has chosen Israel Kamakawiwo’ole as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fouad Barayev!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn throws a right and a left that Barayev avoids nicely.
Penn lands a nice looking body shot.

Penn has Barayev up against the cage in a clinch.
Barayev tries to score a body lock takedown but Penn shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Barayev jumps guard but Penn stands there with Barayev around his waist. Barayev gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Penn gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Barayev.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fouad Barayev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Barayev tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Barayev manages to break the clinch.
Barayev fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Barayev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Barayev fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Penn goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Penn misses with a series of wild punches.
Penn thows a body shot but no joy.
Penn lands a nice shot to the body.
Barayev is breathing heavily.
Barayev throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Penn's waist but Penn gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Barayev off to one side.
Penn misses with the combination.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barayev takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Penn bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Penn looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
You can see the frustration on Barayev's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Barayev is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Barayev is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Penn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barayev keeps working.
Barayev is looking for a sweep.
Penn trying to control the position but Barayev is working away.

Penn has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Barayev drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Penn tries to improve position but can't.

Barayev is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Penn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Barayev decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Penn lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Barayev connects with a high kick.

It looks like DJ Penn has been cut.

Barayev scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Penn is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Barayev pulls his head out easily.
Penn moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Penn is on top in guard.
Barayev controls Penn momentarily but Penn frees himself.
Penn tries to free his leg and advance position but Barayev is retaining full guard.

Barayev looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Penn is defending well. Barayev quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Penn has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Barayev celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
