The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcwanky will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Shields finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Mcwanky shoots in for a takedown but Shields shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Mcwanky drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Mcwanky stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shields swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Shields is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mcwanky throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shields is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mcwanky is aware though and is defending well.

Shields has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mcwanky can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
