Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Niels Pepijn (ranked 9217 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karlovecz David (ranked 8093 p4p, 0 weight class). Pepijn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Not Afraid by Eminem. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Niels Pepijn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Karlovecz David!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

David pushes Pepijn up against the cage in a clinch.
Pepijn tries a body shot but David blocks it.
Pepijn has had enough of the clinch but David keeps him there for the moment.
David displaying some good clinch control by pressing Pepijn up against the cage.
Pepijn stalling against the cage.
David content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Pepijn working hard to break the clinch.
Pepijn is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables David to keep the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pepijn wants to take the fight to the mat but David manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

David escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pepijn tries to close the distance and clinch up but David swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pepijn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Pepijn chips away with some ground and pound.
Pepijn trying to control but David is working from the bottom.
Pepijn engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Pepijn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pepijn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Pepijn looking to sit in guard and control but David gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

David would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

David got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pepijn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, David has managed to get both his arms back between Pepijn's legs - danger averted.
David looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
David throws a big elbow that misses.

Pepijn is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
David preventing the sweep.
David wants to control from the top but Pepijn keeps moving.
Pepijn wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Pepijn wants to get back to his feet but David is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Pepijn is breathing heavily.

David has closed the distance and engaged Pepijn in a clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Pepijn is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Niels Pepijn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
David jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pepijn walks away with a smile on his face. David gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
A head kick misses from David.

Pepijn fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. David sprawls well initially but Pepijn persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Pepijn is figuring out what he wants to do next.
David is looking to control Pepijn's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can David avoid being mounted?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
David manages to get to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Karlovecz David will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


David fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Pepijn half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Pepijn fails to land with a series of punches.
David steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Pepijn.
Pepijn turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Pepijn shoots in for a takedown but David shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Pepijn gets tackled into the cage by David. David maintains the clinch.

David pulls Pepijn into guard.

Pepijn stands and steps away. David gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pepijn shoots in looking for a takedown. David tries to sprawl out of it but Pepijn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. David manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Pepijn darts in looking for a takedown but David gets double underhooks and turns Pepijn into the cage.
David drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Pepijn defends it well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Niels Pepijn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

David misses with a head kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pepijn looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Pepijn tries to close the distance and clinch up but David swats him away and circles back towards the center.
David is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

David rushes Pepijn and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Pepijn stalling.
Pepijn goes for a takedown attempt but David pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pepijn. David does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Pepijn. No joy for David on that attempt.

Pepijn shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
David tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Pepijn manages to move to mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

David is trying to control the position here but Pepijn swings around for an armbar and he's got it! This one is all over, courtesy of a slick submission by Pepijn!
