Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hiram Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aldo Shupe!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shupe instigates a clinch.

Shupe has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Riggs clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Riggs defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard.
Shupe is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Riggs lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Riggs is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Riggs is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Riggs stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Riggs could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Shupe moves into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Shupe pulls guard.

Shupe working for a triangle but Riggs defends it easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shupe can do anything to dispel that myth.
Riggs slips nicely into half guard.

Shupe manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Riggs shoots for a double leg takedown but Shupe sprawls well. He's pushed Riggs's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Riggs gets a clinch.

Shupe jumps guard.
Riggs passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Shupe is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Riggs is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Riggs is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Shupe has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shupe is looking to improve his position but Riggs isn't that keen on the idea.

Riggs is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Shupe is forced to tap! Great finish!
