Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Monroe Chen (ranked 24334 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seeme James (ranked 6296 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Monroe Chen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Seeme James!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James jabs Chen to the body, keeping him at a distance.
James fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Chen.
Chen walks into a straight right hand from James.
James scores with a jab.
James scores with a jab to the head.
James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
James lands a nice shot that snaps Chen's head back.
James throws a combination that misses

and Chen counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chen trying to control the pace.
James avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Chen.
Chen throwing shots but James is blocking nicely.

Chen is taking a breather. James says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
James is trying to stand up here but Chen is controlling him well.

Chen is working for a submission of some sort.
Chen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Chen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed James's head.
Chen slows the pace down in half guard.

Chen seems to be working for a kimura but James defends the submission attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Chen controlling the pace.

Chen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so James is just riding it out for now. Chen eventually gives up the hold.

James tries to kick Chen off but Chen keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Chen seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
James lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
James with a hook.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts James, as that shot connected.

Chen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Chen prevents James from breaking the clinch.
Chen tries to pull guard but James forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
James wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chen wants to get back to striking at distance but James won't allow it.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Chen.
Chen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Chen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
James connects with a body shot.
Seeme James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James dips to his left and cracks Chen with an uppercut!

Chen clinches with his opponent.
James tries to circle away but Chen has him pinned against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Chen breaks from the clinch.
James connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A punch lands to the side of Chen 's head but he takes it in his stride.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seeme James dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


James pulls out of a head kick attempt.
James connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
James throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Jab, jab by James - just one landing.

Chen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Chen lands a right hand.

James pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
James lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
James might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Chen has James up against the cage in a clinch.

Chen pulls James into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chen keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully.
James throws an elbow that misses. Chen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in James's guard. Nice move by Chen!

James wants to get back to his feet but Chen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Chen is looking to stand up but James won't let him.
Chen working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of James's head.
James has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
James wants to stand but Chen is controlling the position.

James wriggles free and stands up.
A right-left combo lands from James.

Chen moves into the clinch.
James is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Chen breaks from the clinch.
James cracks Chen with a right hand to the side of the head.
James scores with a decent looking hook.
James scores with a nice body kick.
Chen ducks right into an uppercut from James.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
James scores with the left hand. Chen knows he should have avoided that one.

Chen moves into the clinch successfully.
Chen keeps the fight in the clinch, despite James's efforts to push away.
James tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Chen wants to break free but James has control.

James breaks the clinch.

Chen on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Seeme James is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Chen doesn't manage to clinch there - James circles away.
A left lands for James.
Seeme James seems to be getting the better of the standup.
James throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
James lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
James punishes Chen's body with a nice straight punch.
Chen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. James manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A head kick misses from James.
Chen tries to clinch there but James circles away.
A nice inside leg kick there by James. That's going to slow Chen down.
Monroe Chen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
James cracks Chen with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
James throws a right hand that Chen ducks under and follows up with a left that Chen also avoids with ease.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chen on the wrong end of a nice jab.

A combination from James does no damage.
James is breathing heavily.
James throws a head kick that misses.
James waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Chen.
James swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Chen.
James throws a head kick but Chen moves out of range.
James misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
James scores with a sloppy right hand. Chen should have avoided that one.
James fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Chen lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

James tries to keep at a distance but Chen has taken the fight into the clinch.
Chen wants a takedown.
Chen avoiding damage.
James tries a body shot but Chen blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seeme James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Chen takes the fight into the clinch.

Chen has picked James up - he's going for a ride! Chen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if James can do anything to dispel that myth.

Chen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Chen throwing shots but James is blocking nicely.
James wants to get back to his feet.
Chen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chen missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Chen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. James doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chen.

James is defending against the submission attempts here by Chen.
Chen perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Chen throwing shots but James is blocking nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Chen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chen in particular looking to stall.
Chen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Chen is trying to work for a kimura but James is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Chen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Chen with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
James lands a lovely overhand right.
James throws a nice looking combination but Chen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Chen appears to be looking for a big counter.
Chen takes a shot to the body in his stride.
James throws a combination that misses

and Chen counters with a takedown into side control.
James takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Chen goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, James rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Chen's guard! Nice work there by James!
James wants to stand and escape but instead Chen has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chen won't allow James to get back to his feet.

Chen gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
James lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Chen drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
James lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
James throws the kick towards the body but Chen avoids it.
Chen is looking for a counter combo.
Chen looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
James misses with a double jab

and Chen counters with a shoot takedown. James fights it but they end up in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Monroe Chen.
I think James has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
