Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Garces (ranked 24537 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rin Nakanichi (ranked 8355 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miguel Garces!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rin Nakanichi!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nakanichi gets caught napping as Garces dives in and scores a takedown. Nakanichi manages to retain guard.
Garces postures up in Nakanichi's guard and throws a big left but Nakanichi blocks it.
Garces throws a big right hand that misses.
Nakanichi pulls Garces in close to prevent any damage.
Garces working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Nakanichi has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Garces wants to pass the guard but Nakanichi is keeping the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Garces working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Nakanichi's head.

Garces postures up in Nakanichi's guard and throws a big left but Nakanichi blocks it.

Garces thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Nakanichi is pulling down on Garces's head to control his posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Garces feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Garces stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nakanichi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nakanichi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Nakanichi is continuing to stall.
Nakanichi wants to sweep but no luck.
Nakanichi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Garces's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Garces is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Nakanichi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Garces is trying to drag Nakanichi to the mat but Nakanichi just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Garces escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nakanichi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Garces throws a nice looking combination but Nakanichi bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Nakanichi shoots in looking for a takedown. Garces tries to sprawl out of it but Nakanichi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Garces manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Garces seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Garces throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Nakanichi tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Garces is in Nakanichi's guard.
