Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Redd Murphy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Riggs!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy connects with a single shot there.
Murphy jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Murphy misses with an uppercut. Riggs saw that one coming.
Murphy throws a body shot but no joy.
Murphy scores with a jab to the jaw.
Murphy misses with a body punch
and Riggs counters with a two punch combo.
Murphy moves out of range as Riggs throws a body kick.
Riggs tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Murphy swivels and escapes.
Riggs punishes Murphy's body with a nice straight punch.
Riggs shoots in looking for a takedown. Murphy tries to sprawl out of it but Riggs keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Murphy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Riggs moves away from the strike by Murphy.
Murphy pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Murphy fails with an attempt to clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A big left from Murphy misses.
Murphy could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Riggs takes a jab right on the kisser.
Murphy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Riggs swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Riggs tries to counter with a clinch but Murphy shakes him off and moves away.
Redd Murphy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Riggs wants to clinch up but Murphy keeps it at a distance.

Murphy has managed to clinch.

Riggs jumps guard but Murphy stands there with Riggs around his waist. Riggs gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Redd Murphy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Riggs.
Riggs wants to break the clinch but can't.

Murphy breaks from the clinch.

Riggs closes the distance and clinches.
Riggs wants a takedown.

Riggs tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Murphy just stands there and leans against the cage.

Murphy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Murphy closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Riggs changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Murphy fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Riggs misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Murphy misses with a straight right.
Riggs wants to clinch.
Riggs dives in and grabs Murphy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Murphy pushes down on Riggs's head and hops out.

Murphy clinches with his opponent.
Murphy is trying to break free.
Murphy can't break the clinch.
Murphy is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Murphy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Riggs forces Murphy back against the cage and clinches.
Riggs is trying to push Murphy away but Murphy has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Murphy wants to break free but Riggs has control.
Riggs tries to stall but Murphy uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Murphy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Riggs looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Murphy has taken the fight to the clinch.

Riggs pulls guard effortlessly.
Murphy is looking to stand up but Riggs won't let him.
Riggs looking to hit a scissor sweep but Murphy is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Murphy trying to stand up but can't free himself from Riggs's guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Redd Murphy dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Riggs moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Riggs throws a head kick but Murphy moves out of range.
Murphy misses with a telegraphed body shot
letting Riggs counter with a right hand.
Riggs tries to clinch but Murphy moves out of range.
Murphy swings for the body but Riggs moves out of range.

Murphy wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Murphy tries to circle away but Riggs has him pinned against the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Murphy throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Riggs counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Riggs is trying hard to land a takedown here. Murphy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Riggs shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Murphy defends it nicely.
Riggs is breathing heavily.
Murphy ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Murphy doesn't manage to clinch there - Riggs circles away.
Murphy lands with an uppercut that bounces Riggs off the cage and back into range.
A jab from Murphy misses.
Murphy tries to clinch up.
Riggs darts in looking for a takedown but Murphy gets double underhooks and turns Riggs into the cage.
An attempted straight right counter from Murphy misses the target.
Redd Murphy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Riggs.
Murphy wants to clinch up but Riggs keeps it at a distance.
Riggs has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Murphy finds it's way round the side to connect with Riggs's head.
John Riggs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Murphy just misses with a punch to the body.
Murphy misses with a wild body shot.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Riggs! But no joy.
Murphy throws the left hand but Riggs avoids the punch easily.
Murphy throws a hook to the side of Riggs's head but Riggs sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Murphy dips to his left and cracks Riggs with an uppercut!
Murphy is looking to clinch but Riggs is avoiding it.
Murphy misses with a looping left.
Murphy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Riggs can do to turn this around?

Murphy moves into the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Riggs is looking to control Murphy's arms but Murphy gets an underhook and turns him. Now Riggs has his back to the cage.
Riggs is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Murphy pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Riggs manages to pull guard.
Riggs trying to keep a closed guard but Murphy is proving a slippery customer.
Murphy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Murphy preventing the sweep.
Murphy wants to stand but Riggs has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Riggs looking to hit a scissor sweep but Murphy is one step ahead there.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Murphy clinches.
Murphy wants to break the clinch but can't.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Murphy wants to break free but Riggs has control.

Riggs breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Murphy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Murphy throws out a powerful jab.

Murphy drops Riggs with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Riggs looks back up at him and smiles so Murphy waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Riggs is rocked!
Murphy fakes the body blow, causing Riggs to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Riggs goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Redd Murphy!
