Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Elijah Monroe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eddie Cage!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monroe looks for a takedown but Cage sprawls well.

Cage forces Monroe back against the cage and clinches.

Cage decides to pull guard.
Monroe really is a fat lump.
Cage tries to strike from the bottom.
Cage striking off his back but it's not causing Monroe any problems.
Cage wants to stand and escape but Monroe is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Monroe would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Monroe has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Cage is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Monroe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cage works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Monroe is fighting to break Cage's control of his arms but Cage is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Cage closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Monroe did well to prevent Cage getting side control.

Cage perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Cage seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Monroe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cage wants to lay and pray for a moment but Monroe keeps working.
Cage content to control rather than advance.
Cage tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cage frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Monroe wants to hold on but Cage pushes him away.
Monroe is desperately trying to improve his position but Cage has a good base and remains in mount.
Monroe is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Monroe tries to improve his position but instead Cage has taken his back!
Cage trying to control momentarily.
Monroe trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Cage is working the ground and pound. Can Monroe escape?

Monroe just trying to survive but Cage is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
What can Monroe do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Cage softening up his opponent with strikes here.
Cage throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Monroe!
Monroe wants to control his opponent's hands but Cage gets his hands free.
Monroe is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cage loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Monroe hold on?
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eddie Cage dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Cage shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Cage is trying to work for a kimura but Monroe is defending well.
Eddie Cage has got the better of the ground game so far.
Monroe wants to control but Cage is keeping busy and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cage tries to pass to full mount but Monroe defends it.

Monroe looking for submissions off his back.

Monroe is trying to control but can't.
Monroe is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cage scores with a couple of nice shots.
Cage is thwarting Monroe's attempts to control the position.

Cage is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Monroe sees it coming and defends easily.

Cage seems to be looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Monroe looking for submissions off his back.
Cage seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Monroe has a hand on Cage's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Cage takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Cage wants to finish this one by submission but Monroe is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Cage.

Monroe taking shots to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cage with the ground and pound from mount.
Monroe tries to lock up and control but Cage gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Cage fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cage scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Cage tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Monroe is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Monroe really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The referee warns Monroe that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Cage controlling from mount.
Monroe tries to control the position but Cage now has his back.

Cage has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Monroe is in real trouble here. Cage gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Monroe is tapping out! Cage wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Eddie Cage!
A less than humble Eddie Cage misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
