The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simmons chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Como can pounce on him.
Como moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Como lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Como's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Como duly obliges.
Simmons has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Simmons closes the distance and clinches.

We've been hearing good reports from Como's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Como lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Como is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Como feints and then cracks Simmons's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Simmons down.

Simmons closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Horrible takedown attempt by Simmons or perhaps it was just good defense by Como, which made it look bad.

Como cracks Simmons with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
